Browns call Isaiah Crowell police Instagram ‘extremely disturbing’

The Cleveland Browns called the graphic Instagram that running back Isaiah Crowell posted last week “extremely disturbing” and said his apology was not sufficient penance, according to ESPN.
Crowell posted an image of a police officer getting his throat slit on his Instagram account after the killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile last week, but before the Dallas police shooting. The photo was captioned, “Mood: They give polices all types of weapons and they continuously choose to kill us…#Weak.”
“We have spoken to Isaiah regarding his extremely disturbing and unacceptable social media decision. It was completely inappropriate and we have made him aware of our high level of disappointment,” the Browns said in a statement. “Isaiah has apologized but also knows that just an apology is insufficient and that he must take steps to make a positive difference after a very negative and impactful post.”

Crowell deleted the photo shortly after he posted it, and followed up with an apology on Twitter. He also released a public statement of apology through the team.
“It was an extremely poor decision and I apologize for that mistake and for offending people,” Crowell said in a statement released by the team. “My values and beliefs do not match that image.”
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy responded on behalf of the league, and said, “The image was inappropriate and insensitive. He realized this, took down the post and has since apologized.”
Crowell, 23, was one of many athletes to react to the violence that dominated headlines last week.
