Fantasy Football: Week 8 WR Rankings

WR Start of the Week: Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos (at IND)
Courtland Sutton has been a model of consistency in his second season. With seven to nine targets every week, the former second-round pick has a minimum of four catches every game this season. In addition, Sutton has exceeded 60 receiving yards in every game but one (40, Week 2 vs. Chicago).
Through the first seven weeks of the season, Sutton has scored the 12-most fantasy points based on half-PPR scoring. With a 36/564/3 line, he’s on pace for nearly 1,300 receiving yards (1,289).
By trading away Emmanuel Sanders to San Francisco, the Broncos could send a couple more targets Sutton’s way. The Colts have allowed the 11th-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season. With the potential for more targets in a favorable matchup, Sutton could continue to perform as a WR1 this week and the rest of the season.
WR Sit of the Week: Alshon Jeffery, Philadelphia Eagles (at BUF)
While Sutton has exceeded 60 yards in all but one game, Alshon Jeffery has failed to exceed 52 yards in every game but one (76 yards in Week 6). To be fair, Jeffery has missed a game and played limited snaps in another, but things won’t get any easier for him in Week 8.
Buffalo has allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season. Their pass defense has allowed only four passing touchdowns (second-lowest in the NFL) and just 201.3 passing yards per game (fourth lowest) and they have yet to allow a 100-yard game this season.
With only two teams on bye in Week 8, Jeffery isn’t much more than a WR3/flex option this week.
