Patrick Mahomes Shares Heartfelt Message to Tom Brady in Wake of Retirement

With legendary quarterback Tom Brady stepping away from football after 23 unforgettable years, a sendoff from the heir apparent to his throne was only fitting.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes took time away from his preparation for Super Bowl LVII to congratulate Brady on his retirement in a blurb that aired on Brady’s Sirius XM show with Jim Gray Monday evening.

"What's up, Tom? I just wanted to say congrats on retirement," Mahomes told the seven-time Super Bowl champion. "You had a hell of a career that all of us will be chasing for a very long time. Happy for you, but I'm just a little bit happy to see you go, too. Congrats, man."

Brady and Mahomes's careers overlapped for six seasons in total. The two quarterbacks split their six head-to-head matchups, but Brady won both of their postseason duels: a 37–31 Patriots win in 2018’s AFC Championship Game, and the Buccaneers' 31–9 triumph in Super Bowl LV.

Mahomes will try for his second ring on Sunday when Kansas City plays the Eagles in the Super Bowl.
