Jets GM Joe Douglas Says Aaron Rodgers ‘Is Going to Be Here’

As the Aaron Rodgers saga continues with no end in sight, Jets general manager Joe Douglas made a definitive statement as the fan base continues to wait for a trade for the star quarterback.

“He’s gonna be here,” Douglas told fans at a WFAN event in New York.

The crowd went crazy after Douglas’s comment, but there is no indication of when that trade between the Packers and Jets may be completed with the NFL draft just weeks away.

Any trade package for Rodgers would likely include draft compensation, perhaps even including draft picks this year, which one would think would provide Green Bay with motivation to get a deal done within the next few weeks.

It took quite the road to get to this point, as it was unknown whether or not Rodgers even wanted to continue playing football after last season ended. As Rodgers wavered on his decision-making, it became clear that Green Bay preferred to move on from him and play former first-round pick Jordan Love.

After evaluating the situation on a multi-day darkness retreat, Rodgers told The Pat McAfee Show that he wants to play for the Jets. Since then, the NFL world has been on trade watch for about a month, with still no deal consummated yet at this point.

Douglas’s comments on Friday night provide optimism that a trade will get done soon, but for now, Rodgers remains a Packer.
