Matt Ryan Announces He’s Joining CBS Sports As NFL Analyst

Matt Ryan was released by the Colts this offseason and instead of signing with another team or announcing his retirement, the veteran quarterback is embarking on a career change.

Ryan announced Monday that he is joining CBS Sports as an NFL analyst, and he added a specific addendum to his announcement.

“Excited to join the NFL on CBS Family! Looking forward to breaking down the game this season,” Ryan said on Twitter. “P.S. - this is not a retirement post.”

It’s unclear if the 37-year-old will ever suit up in the NFL again—but he appears to be leaving the door open if a QB-needy team should come calling.

Ryan will be used in studio and on game broadcasts, CBS announced.

Ryan played the first 14 years of his career with Atlanta, where he won an MVP award and was named to the Pro Bowl four times. He owns the Falcons’ franchise records for passing yards, touchdowns, completions and games played. But he left the team in March 2022 when he was traded to Indianapolis—a move he wanted at the time.

But things didn’t work out with the Colts this past season, as he only appeared in 12 games and got benched toward the end of the year. He was released in March.
