Aaron Rodgers Doing ‘Fine’ After Suffering Minor Calf Strain, Saleh Says

Aaron Rodgers’s much-anticipated debut with the Jets this offseason was put on hold when he suffered a minor calf strain that kept him out of the team’s first day of voluntary OTA practices last week.

Thankfully for New York, the four-time MVP is already nearing a return to action with his new club.

Jets coach Robert Saleh told reporters on Wednesday that Rodgers is doing “fine,” confirming a similar statement made by the quarterback last week shortly after the injury occurred. Saleh revealed that Rodgers will focus on rehabbing his calf during Wednesday’s workout, but that the four-time MVP is targeting a return to full participation in New York’s offseason program on Friday.

Rodgers, 39, did not participate in last Tuesday’s practice, but was seen on the field throughout the workout. Quarterbacks Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle handled the first-team reps as the former Packers signal-caller looked on.

Despite the minor setback, Rodgers maintained a positive attitude about his “dream” first month with the Jets following this spring’s blockbuster trade.

“Every day I wake up excited about coming to the facility,” Rodgers said last Tuesday. “Now the commute being two minutes really helps. Just rolling out of bed and heading to the facility is nice.

“Rocking Jets gear is a little bit strange, for sure,” he added. “But every day there’s been a little special sign or synchronicity or cool moment that reminds me I’m in the right place.”
