Colts' Isaiah Rodgers Speaks Out on NFL's Probe Into His Alleged Gambling
On Monday, Colts cornerback Isaiah Rodgers was reported by several outlets to be under investigation by the NFL for a possible violation of its gambling policy.
Rodgers responded by issuing a statement on his Instagram Monday night, acknowledging the reports and expressing remorse for his conduct.
"Addressing the current reports, I want to take full responsibility for my actions. I know I have made mistakes and I am willing to do whatever it takes to repair the situation," Rodgers wrote. "The last thing I ever wanted to do was be a distraction to the Colts organization, my coaches, and my teammates. I've let people down that I care about. I made an error and judgment and I am going to work hard to make sure that those mistakes are rectified through this process. It's an honor to play in the NFL and I have never taken that lightly. I am very sorry for all of this."
Initial reports began to surface Monday afternoon that the NFL was probing an unnamed Indianapolis player, eventually revealed to be Rodgers. The fourth-year Massachusetts product has intercepted three passes in 45 games across three seasons.
Former Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley was suspended for the entire 2022 season after it was revealed last March he’d bet on multiple NFL games, including a wager on his own team to win. The league also handed out five gambling-related suspensions on April 21 as concerns surrounding professional and college sports' embrace of legal betting continue to rise.
