Julian Edelman Debunks Wild Rob Gronkowski Partying Story

It’s no secret that Rob Gronkowski knows how to have a good time. The former Patriots and Buccaneers tight end has been seen partying time and again during offseasons past living his best life.

But when it came down to business, Gronk was as locked in as anyone on game day, according to former New England teammate Julian Edelman.

Edelman wanted to make that clear Saturday, when he wrote that a story making the rounds about Gronkowski’s partying is completely untrue.

During a recent appearance on Prime Time with Alex Stein, former Patriots defensive end Jake Bequette claimed Gronkowski would go out partying in Boston until 3 or 4 a.m. during the season and get dropped off at the team facility by his friends. Then, he supposedly would pass out on a training table, where team trainers would subsequently administer intravenous fluids.

However, Edelman said the story is unequivocally false in a tweet posted Saturday night.  

“Story is BS,” Edelman wrote on Twitter. “Everyone wants to paint Gronk as a party animal. When in reality he was one of the most dedicated teammates I had.”

Former New England defensive back Patrick Chung piled on and confirmed Edelman’s account that Bequette’s story is untrue. 

“Exactly,” Chung wrote in a tweet. “People just want their time of fame. Willing to do anything to get it.”

Bequette was only in the NFL from 2012 to ’15—all with the Patriots—and won a Super Bowl ring for the 2014 season.
