Browns Release DT Perrion Winfrey After Reported Police Investigation

The Browns released defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey on Wednesday after a local news station’s report that he is being investigated for threatening a woman and showing her a gun.

According to Fox 8, the incident occurred Tuesday in a Cleveland hotel lobby. Two women said they saw Winfrey there, and one of the women said she insulted him, but he didn’t respond. Then, they said, he grew angry and made a threat while showing them a gun. Winfrey left the scene before police arrived, and he has not been arrested or charged at this time.

The women also said they recorded some of the encounter, and a clip that purports to show the altercation has circulated on social media after being published to the woman’s Instagram Story. It can be seen here. In the video, a man the woman says is Winfrey can be heard saying, “Nothing’s on me? Nothing’s on me? I will smack the s--- out of both of y’all.”

The woman also posted a picture of a bruise on her neck on her Instagram Story, tagging the Browns with the caption, “Is this what you stand for???” It is currently unclear how the bruise is related to the incident.

“I’m literally scared to go home,” she wrote.

In April, Winfrey, 22, was also arrested and charged in Texas with assault after an incident with a woman he was dating. The case was dismissed in June.
