Assault Charge Against Browns DT Perrion Winfrey Dismissed

Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey is out of the legal troubles he was facing in Texas.

Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey received some good news in his legal case on Friday. According to court information in Harris County, Texas, the misdemeanor assault charge was dismissed upon completion of the pretrial diversion program.

Winfrey was accused of assaulting a woman that he was dating in Texas but it has now been wiped away. After working inside to begin the mandatory minicamp, the Oklahoma product returned to practice fully on Thursday. With the news here, Winfrey looks set to be good to go as the team will begin training camp on July 22 at the The Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia.

This was not the only thing that Winfrey was dealing with. He was robbed at gunpoint last week alongside cornerback Greg Newsome II.

Winfrey has had multiple issues that have affected his on-the-field playing time. The hope is that he’s put the issues behind him and can be a contributor in year two with the Browns.
