Patrick Mahomes Picks Kirk Cousins as NFL’s Most Underrated QB

Following the release and success of Netflix’s Quarterback series, which chronicled the 2022 seasons of Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota, a video emerged of the three quarterbacks discussing myriad topics.

When the topic of most underrated quarterback came up, there was no question in Mahomes’s mind whom the top candidate was.

“I think this guy right here,” Mahomes said, alluding to Cousins, when asked which quarterback is most underrated in the NFL. “I mean, if you look at Kirk over here, man. Wins every year. Puts up great stats. Did it in Washington. Does it in Minnesota. Talk to any other quarterbacks in this league, and they’re gonna say the same thing.”

Mariota agreed with Mahomes.

“I’d agree with that,” Mariota added. “I’ve been in a few systems and with a few coaches. And a lot of the tape that we’d watch was of Kirk. A guy consistently, year in and year out, continues to prove why he is one of the top quarterbacks in the league.”

Cousins appreciated the sentiment of his peers.

“Any time you can be complimented by your peers it beats any compliment coming from anybody else in your life,” he said.

Cousins likely will continue to be slighted until he experiences playoff success. Cousins is 1–4 in the playoffs in his career despite having solid regular-season statistics.

Cousins has thrown for 37,140 yards with 252 touchdowns to 105 interceptions over the course of his 11-year career, completing 66.8% of his passes in the process.
