Texans, C.J. Stroud Agree to Terms on Rookie Contract, per Report
The Texans and No. 2 pick C.J. Stroud have agreed to terms on a four-year rookie contract worth $36.3 million in total, per multiple reports. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Stroud is getting his entire $23.83 million signing bonus guaranteed and upfront, something that Houston hasn’t done in the past.
Stroud was a two-year starter at Ohio State, playing in 25 games since 2021 and totaling over 8,000 yards passing with 85 passing touchdowns and just 12 interceptions. He was a Heisman finalist in each of the last two seasons, the only eligible player to do so.
In the 2023 NFL Draft, Houston took Stroud after the Panthers made Bryce Young the first player and first quarterback taken. The quarterback joins Davis Mills and Case Keenum on Houston’s quarterback depth chart entering training camp.
With Stroud, Young and No. 4 pick Anthony Richardson now all signed to their rookie contracts, Seahawks cornerback and No. 5 overall pick Devon Witherspoon is the only first round pick still unsigned.
