Raiders’ Maxx Crosby Issues Strong Defense of Jimmy Garoppolo Amid Training Camp Woes

Much has been made of Jimmy Garoppolo’s early struggles during Raiders training camp recently but defensive end Maxx Crosby came to the veteran’s defense Thursday and said his quarterback has made some big improvements this week.

“He came out the last two days, he’s been incredible,” Crosby said, per ESPN

On Sunday, coach Josh McDaniels addressed Garoppolo throwing seven interceptions in the span of just two practices, saying he had “no concerns” regarding the play of his new quarterback.

“We’ve also seen some very good throws,” McDaniels said. “It’s a very competitive camp.”

Garoppolo was signed during the offseason to replace Derek Carr as the franchise quarterback and fans have a lot of expectations for the 31-year-old, explaining why there’s no much fascination with his performance before preseason games have even started. Crosby was also clear he has expectations for his team and said he’s “sick of this s---“ when referring to his squad not making the playoffs.

Fans will finally get a glimpse of what’s to come on Sunday in the team’s first preseason game of the year against the 49ers before the Raiders’ regular season begins Sept. 10 vs. the Broncos.
