Ja’Marr Chase Says Bengals’ Rivalry With ‘Toxic’ Chiefs Is NFL’s Best

The Bengals-Chiefs rivalry has become one of the premiere matchups in the NFL over the last two seasons, with both teams matching up in the last two AFC championship games. When asked whether the rivalry is the best in the NFL, Cincinnati star Ja’Marr Chase had a predictable answer.

“Right now, yeah,” Chase told Sports Illustrated’s Robin Lundberg.

And the offseason hasn’t stopped the two sides from chirping at one another. Chase found himself making headlines over the summer when he was asked who the best quarterback in the NFL was and he said Joe Burrow. When reporters told him that his own quarterback named Chiefs signal-caller Patrick Mahomes as the best in the world, Chase played dumb.

“Pat who?” Chase asked.

This led to Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce clapping back at Chase in defense of Mahomes but in his interview with SI, Chase elected to not engage in a back-and-forth with Kelce when asked whether he wanted to respond. However, when Lundberg asked him to describe the rival Chiefs with one word, he did so with a laugh.

“Toxic,” Chase said.

The two AFC powerhouses are scheduled to face off in Week 17 on New Year’s Eve.
