Dolphins Emerge As Potential Suitor for Jonathan Taylor, per Report
The ongoing offseason saga between the Colts and star running back Jonathan Taylor took a turn on Monday when the team granted Taylor permission to seek a trade. Shortly after that news broke, a potential landing spot for the former All-Pro has emerged.
The Dolphins are reportedly expected to explore a trade for Taylor, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. While a potential return for Taylor remains to be seen, the Colts are reportedly eyeing a first-round pick—or a package of picks of equal value—in exchange for Taylor, per ESPN’s Stephen Holder.
Taylor and the Colts have been locked in a contract dispute all offseason. Taylor originally requested a trade in July, at which point team owner Jim Irsay said the team had no intention to trade him.
“We will not trade Jonathan Taylor,” Irsay said at the time. “That is a certainty. Not now or not in October.”
Taylor, 24, led the league in rushing yards (1,811) and rushing touchdowns (18) in 2022, finishing second in the voting for the Offensive Player of the Year award. Injuries limited him to just 11 games last season, and he finished with 861 rushing yards and four scores.
