Ravens’ Historic Preseason Winning Streak Ends at 24 Games

The Ravens’ remarkable run during the preseason came to a close on Monday night. After 24 consecutive wins, Baltimore was finally defeated in the preseason during their clash against the Commanders, 29-28, putting an end to a historic winning streak that dated back to 2015.

The last time the Ravens lost a preseason game was Sept. 3, 2015, during a matchup with the Falcons. During the game, a 20-19 defeat, Baltimore was quarterbacked by the tandem of Bryn Renner and Matt Schaub. 

They’d stunningly managed to win every preseason game since, until they came up against Washington and the trio of Sam Howell, Jake Fromm, and Jacoby Brissett.

The Ravens had an eight-point lead in the fourth quarter against the Commanders, and even thwarted a two-point conversion attempt after Washington scored to make it 28-26. But with 10 seconds left in regulation, Joey Slye mailed home a 49-year-old field goal to give the Commanders a one-point lead, from which the Ravens could not come back.

The 24-game preseason win streak remains the longest in league history, despite no longer being active.

Baltimore will wrap up its preseason with a matchup against the Buccaneers on Saturday, Aug. 26 before the regular season gets underway.
