Nick Bosa Agrees to Historic Extension With 49ers, per Report
The 49ers and Nick Bosa have agreed to a massive five-year deal worth $170 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The extension includes $122.5 million guaranteed and will make him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history.
The record-breaking deal is the highest for any player who isn’t a quarterback, with Bosa now earning $34 million annually. The extension also ends his holdout and San Francisco is expected to waive all of Bosa’s fines for not attending training camp, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The expectation is Bosa will now return to the team for its Week 1 matchup against the Steelers on Sunday.
San Francisco opted to not extend Bosa before the fourth year on his rookie contract last season and he still played while earning just $5.2 million in 2022. The result was a Defensive Player of the Year campaign that saw the edge rusher lead the NFL in sacks with 18.5. He also tallied 51 tackles and forced two fumbles on his way to a First-Team All-Pro selection.
Bosa, 25, and the 49ers will start their 2023 season Sunday against the Steelers at 1 p.m. ET on Fox.
