Ravens’ Mark Andrews Unlikely to Play in Week 1 vs. Texans, per Report

The Ravens and quarterback Lamar Jackson will reportedly open 2023 without a crucial cog in their offense.

Tight end Mark Andrews is unlikely to play in Baltimore’s opener against the Texans o Sunday afternoon due to a quadriceps injury, according to a Saturday night report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. Rapoport noted that Andrews's potential unavailability was "a bit of a surprise."

"I'm feeling good," Andrews told reporters Thursday, at the time giving no guarantee he would play against Houston. "I’ve obviously taken some time off and been slowly working back in. It’s been one of those things that’s been a little tricky."

One of Baltimore's most invaluable players throughout the Jackson era, Andrews has made three Pro Bowls in five years with the Ravens. In 2022, the Oklahoma product caught 73 passes for 847 yards and five touchdowns.

Other tight ends on Baltimore's roster include Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar, both second-year players.
