Thursday’s Eagles-Vikings Game Set NFL Prime Video Streaming Record

The Thursday night showdown between the Eagles and Vikings on Amazon Prime Video was the most-streamed game in NFL history, averaging 15.1 million viewers.

The 2023 debut of NFL football on Amazon’s Prime Video earned the largest Thursday night football audience in the streaming service’s history. The Eagles‘ thrilling win over the Vikings averaged 15.1 million viewers, it was announced on Friday.

Per a Nielsen’s customized “Integrated Live Streaming Report,” the game averaged 16.6 million viewers across all platforms, inclusive of all computer and mobile devices.

The high-scoring affair, which produced 62 combined points, enabled the streaming service to surpass the inaugural Chargers vs. Chiefs Thursday night showdown last season, which averaged 13 million viewers, with 11.8 million tuning in on Prime Video.

In 2022, Thursday night primetime games averaged 9.6 million viewers on Prime Video, resulting in a massive audience one-year increase due to the draw of watching the elite offensive talents of Minnesota and Philadelphia.

After offering fans arguably the best wideout in the game in the Vikings’ Justin Jefferson and arguably the best overall team in the NFC in the Eagles, Amazon will look to maintain those numbers next week when the Giants head west to take on the 49ers.

The Giants, who were routed at home by the Cowboys, 40–0, on Sunday Night Football, will look to bounce back in Week 2 against the Cardinals. On the flip side, Brock Purdy and the powerful 49ers will look to earn their second straight win as they head to Los Angeles to face the Rams in an NFC West battle.
