Saints S Marcus Maye Suspended for Violating NFL Substance Abuse Policy

The Saints will be without safety Marcus Maye for the team’s next three games, the league announced on Wednesday. According to an official statement from the league, Maye has been suspended for three games without pay for violating the NFL Policy on Substances of Abuse.

Marcus Maye of the New Orleans Saints has been suspended without pay for the next three games for violating the NFL Policy on Substances of Abuse.

Maye is eligible to return to the Saints' active roster on Monday, Oct. 9, following the team's Week 5 game at New England.

Maye, 30, is in his second season with New Orleans after beginning his career with the Jets as a second-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft.

Following a five-year stretch in New York where Maye started all 60 games he played in, the former Florida safety joined the Saints in 2022. Maye started all 10 games for New Orleans in 2022, totaling 60 combined tackles, two passes defensed and one forced fumble.

Through the first two games of the 2023 NFL season, Maye has totaled 13 combined tackles with one interception, one sack and one pass defensed.
