Cardinals RB James Conner to Miss Multiple Weeks Due to Injury, per Report

The Cardinals were dealt a tough blow with the news of James Conner’s injury in Week 5 against the Bengals. The running back left the game in the second quarter after a 35-yard run and didn’t return. It appears the injury will sideline Conner for some time, as he’s expected to miss “multiple weeks” due to a knee injury, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Arizona head coach Jonathan Gannon addressed the injury on Arizona Sports’ Burns & Gambo earlier Tuesday morning, stating that Conner could be out “a little bit of time.”

“I’m not quite sure yet, but it looks like [Conner could miss] a little bit of time,” Gannon told Arizona Sports’ Burns & Gambo on Monday.

The Arizona Cardinals may be without starting running back James Conner for some time.

“We’re still working through that,” the Cardinals coach added. “James will be back at some point but honestly just wanted to add another back for some depth there to make sure we’re OK there for practice and for the games.”

The player Gannon referenced as a new addition is running back Tony Jones Jr., who was claimed off waivers after beginning the season with the Saints. Jones, who’s in his third NFL season out of Notre Dame, has totaled 21 rushing attempts for 70 yards and two touchdowns this season.
