49ers QB Brock Purdy Is in Concussion Protocol, Kyle Shanahan Says

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan announced that quarterback Brock Purdy is in concussion protocol for Wednesday’s practice.

Purdy played in San Francisco’s entire game against the Vikings on Monday night, totaling 272 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the loss. The quarterback did not get evaluated for a concussion at any point during the game, but started showing symptoms on the flight home from Minnesota, according to Shanahan.

If Purdy cannot play on Sunday vs. the Bengals, backup quarterback Sam Darnold will most likely get the start. Darnold, who beat out Trey Lance for the 49ers’ backup quarterback position in training camp, went 4-2 in six starts for the Panthers last year.
