Near-Brawl in Giants-Commanders After Sam Howell’s TD Run Leads to Multiple Ejections

The Giants and Commanders were both ready to rumble in Sunday's game at FedEx Field.

Late in the second quarter, Washington quarterback Sam Howell tucked the ball and ran towards the goal line. After taking hard hits off of several Giants defenders, Howell crossed the line in a heroic effort to cut the Commanders' deficit to 14-9.

But after the play, things got feisty. Howell took a late shove close to the sideline by safety Xavier McKinney. A few of Howell's Washington teammates took issue with McKinney's hit, and in turn a few more Giants took issue with Washington's players stepping in, and suddenly there was a fracas just outside the end zone.

When the dust settled, Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel and Giants cornerback Cor'Dale Flott were ejected for their involvement in the scuffle.

Washington would miss the ensuing extra point, leaving the game at 14-9 heading into halftime.
