Giants Fans Angry at Tanking Effort Getting Dashed by Win Over Commanders

The Giants earned a big win over their NFC East rivals, defeating the Commanders 31–19 at FedEx Field in Week 11. Quarterback Tommy DeVito led the victory effort with a breakout performance, throwing three touchdown passes.

However, Giants fans weren’t too excited about their team improving to 3–8 for the season. On social media, many were upset that the win negatively affected their 2024 draft position. To them, tanking to get the No. 1 overall pick is now dead.

Check out some of the remarks:

Going into Week 11, the Giants’ 2–8 record put them in position for the No. 2 overall selection. Fans wanting a new franchise quarterback like North Carolina’s Drake Maye or Oregon’s Bo Nix were excited about that opportunity.

However, after the win over the Commanders putting them at 3–8, the Cardinals – who lost 21 – 16 to the Texans – will leapfrog the Giants in the draft order at 2–9. The Bears’ hold on the No. 1 pick (acquired in a trade with Carolina) became stronger with the Panthers losing 33–10 to the Cowboys and falling to 1–9.

Additionally, the Patriots, on a bye this week, could also move ahead of New York. And the Bears are in a position to move ahead of the Giants with their own pick after losing to the Lions, 31–26.

Yet with six games remaining in the season, hope could still be alive for Giants fans.
