Shannon Sharpe Reveals His Absurd Teeth-Brushing Schedule

It might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think about him, but Shannon Sharpe has some nice teeth—and now we know why.

On a recent episode of his YouTube show Nightcap with Chad Johnson, Sharpe revealed that he brushes his teeth “on average, somewhere between seven and 10 times a day,” adding that he goes through a tube of toothpaste every week. That’s a lot of brushing. Or, as Johnson put it, “God damn, Unc, that’s like the little cartoon characters, man.”

Here’s how his brushing schedule breaks down:

  • Before he eats breakfast
  • After he eats breakfast
  • After he arrives at the studio to tape First Take
  • After eating when he gets home from work
  • After a 30-minute nap
  • After he gets home from the gym

That’s when Johnson cut him off and said, “That’s too much goddamn brushing. I get it.”

Sharpe followed up with a social media post expanding on his dental hygiene habit, explaining that he’ll brush his team basically any time he eats or naps.

Now, the obvious question is whether it’s possible to brush your teeth too often. According to an article from a New York dentist’s office, the answer is yes, but the danger lies primarily in overusing your toothbrush. The bristles on the toothbrush can become sharpened by overuse and cause damage to the teeth. But Sharpe says he swaps out his toothbrush for a new one every two weeks. His dentist will be glad to hear that.
