49ers LB Dre Greenlaw, Eagles Staffer Ejected After Heated Sideline Scuffle

The animosity between the 49ers and Eagles spilled over onto the sidelines during their Week 13 matchup as the NFC rivals engaged in a heated scuffle that resulted in two ejections.

With the 49ers leading, 21–6, midway through the third quarter, tensions flared after Eagles receiver DeVonta Smith was slammed to the turf by 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw along Philadelphia’s sideline after the play had been whistled dead.

Smith immediately popped to his feet and started exchanging words with Greenlaw as several Eagles players and staff members joined in. Suddenly, Greenlaw took a swipe and made slight contact with the face of an Eagles staffer identified on-air as Dom DiSandro, the club’s chief security officer and senior advisor to the general manager.

Following a review, the officials elected to disqualify Greenlaw, who was flagged for his tackle, and DiSandro for the remainder of the game, capping a wildly bizarre sequence that unexpectedly halted the tight matchup.

Considering the hype entering the game, the fracas added even more heat to the already contentious energy that filled the air before the game even began.

Fortunately for the Eagles, the NFC East powerhouse would get the last laugh five plays later, as they cut the deficit with Jalen Hurts punching another touchdown in via the Brotherly Shove.
