J.J. Watt Blasts NFL Over Jets RB Breece Hall Getting Huge Fine for ‘Routine Football Play’

J.J. Watt ripped the NFL for its decision to fine Jets running back Breece Hall $43,709 Saturday for “unnecessary roughness” in the Jets’ 13-8 loss to the Falcons in Week 13.

Hall was assessed the massive pay deduction for making a standard football play. During the game, Hall caught a pass in the flat and lowered his head while preparing for a huge tackle from Falcons cornerback A.J. Terrell.

Hall was not penalized for the play, while Terrell entered concussion protocol.

Watt could not believe the NFL fined the Jets star running back for making a “routine football play.”

“$43,709 fine for a running back lowering his shoulder to protect himself from an incoming tackler flying in at him. A perfectly normal, routine football play. What are we doing with these fines?!,” Watt wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Watt’s reaction to Hall’s fine comes after the 22-year-old questioned the league’s decision to fine him in a series of posts on X. Hall, who suffered a season-ending ACL injury in 2022, felt that he made the necessary football move to protect his knees.

“I’m Supposed to just let him hit me?,” Hall wrote. “I’ll just let him dive at my knees next time I guess?🧐 not like I tore my ACL or anything lol.”
