Short of Aaron Rodgers, there may be no player more synonymous with the last 15+ years of Green Bay Packers football than kicker Mason Crosby. After being picked in the sixth round in the 2007 NFL draft, he spent 16 seasons as the team’s kicker, entrenching himself in the franchise record books as the Packers’ all-time scoring leader and breaking Brett Favre’s record for consecutive games played.

Like his friend Rodgers, Crosby departed the team in the offseason after Green Bay drafted his successor Anders Carlson in the sixth round of the 2023 draft. And like Rodgers, he will make his return to the NFL in New York.

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Crosby—who has not played yet this season—has signed with the New York Giants and will kick for the team on Christmas Day against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The team is signing Crosby to the practice squad and will elevate him to play in the team’s game Sunday, per Garafolo. New York has lost kickers Graham Gano and Randy Bullock to injuries already this year, and this week, Cade York aggravated a leg injury in practice and is set to hit the injured reserve.

Crosby has 395 career field goals—good for 14th all-time in NFL history—making 81.4% of his career attempts, along with 97.3% of his extra point attempts. Last season he was a solid 25 of 29 with the Packers, and knocked home 37 of 39 extra points.

Earlier this month he briefly signed with the Los Angeles Rams, but was released before playing in a game.

The Giants-Eagles matchup kicks off at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday.
