Robert Griffin III Emphatically Declares Chiefs-Dolphins Playoff Game Should Be Postponed
The NFL officially postponed the Buffalo Bills’ wild-card round playoff matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to severe weather on Saturday, bumping that game at Highmark Stadium to Monday.
Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III believes the league shouldn’t stop there.
“The Dolphins-Chiefs game should be postponed too,” Griffin posted on social media while declaring the current weather in Kansas City is “not safe” for fans planning to attend.
The Dolphins and Chiefs are scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. ET Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium. It is projected to be minus-4°F at kickoff with a wind chill of minus-23°F.
“You’re trying to tell me that’s safe?” Griffin asked in another post. “No, it’s not safe. … And it’s not football weather.”
Although the weather significantly drove down the game’s ticket prices, it hasn’t stopped Chiefs fans from flocking to the stadium for their tailgating rituals. Some arrived at Arrowhead Stadium at 5:30 a.m. CT, over 13 hours before kickoff.
Despite Griffin’s plea, the game is still scheduled to be played Saturday night. Fans can either bundle up in Kansas City or subscribe to Peacock to watch the game from home.
