Packers DT Boldly States Way to ‘Guarantee’ 49ers QB Brock Purdy Commits Turnover

The Green Bay Packers picked up a huge win in the wild-card round last weekend, but their road through the playoffs doesn’t get easier as they travel to play the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday night. However, despite Brock Purdy’s success with the 49ers this season, one Packers defender believes he’s found the way to make Purdy struggle.

Green Bay defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt told the media on Wednesday that the key to forcing turnovers against Purdy is to simply get pressure on him.

"When D-linemen just get pressure into him, he’s always throwing off or it’s behind them or it’s overthrown or short,” Wyatt said, via The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman. “When you get pressure on him, it’s a guarantee we’ll get a turnover.”

Despite Wyatt’s take, the numbers paint a different picture regarding Purdy’s production vs. pressure. The 49ers quarterback is one of the best in the league when facing pressure, especially late in the season, according to PFF.

For the Packers to win this game, they are going to need Purdy to struggle, but the 24-year has not had many bad games this year. Purdy enters the playoffs having played 16 regular season games, totaling 31 touchdowns to just 11 interceptions.

Purdy was able to avoid throwing an interception in 10 games, and he only had three multi-interception games all season. Green Bay’s chances on Saturday will likely come down forcing Purdy into turnovers.
