Chiefs Running Back Jerick McKinnon Returns from Injured Reserve Ahead of Super Bowl, per Report

In this story:
Kansas City Chiefs running back Jerick McKinnon has been designated to return off injured reserve, and his practice window has opened ahead of next Sunday’s Super Bowl, according to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
McKinnon has been on injured reserve since Christmas Eve with a groin injury, but would be a significant addition to the Kansas City passing game for Super Bowl LVIII. In 12 games this season, McKinnon has caught 25 passes for 192 yards and four touchdowns, serving as the Chiefs’ go-to pass-catching back.
Another weapon added to the fold would be helpful for the Chiefs as they contend with San Francisco’s potent offensive attack. Although Kansas City uses a healthy rotation of running backs including Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire, McKinnon adds a burst to the lineup that can be used as a change-of-pace option on handoffs and out of the backfield on passing downs.
The Chiefs and 49ers are set to play in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, Feb. 11. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. ET from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
