Deion Sanders Praises 49ers’ Brock Purdy As NFL’s ‘Best Story in the Last Two Decades’

While in Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City ChiefsColorado coach Deion Sanders stopped by radio row where he made a bold proclamation about one of the quarterbacks in Sunday’s big game.

“I think Brock Purdy is the best story in the last two decades. Ever,” Sanders told Sports Illustrated. “This kid is phenomenal [with] what he’s accomplished.”

Purdy, the very last pick in the 2022 NFL draft, has emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL but finds himself the subject of much debate. Despite leading the NFL in passer rating (113.0) and throwing for 4,280 yards and 31 touchdowns, some critics have refused to give him praise. Instead, there are those who think his success is more of a product of the players around him as opposed to his own talent.

Sanders is clearly not one of those people. The Hall of Famer is all in on “Mr. Irrelevant” and for good reason. He’ll get his chance to prove Sanders right on Sunday with kick off set for 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
