49ers' Dre Greenlaw Suffers Injury While Running Onto Field During Changeover in Super Bowl LVIII

If the San Francisco 49ers are going to pull off a win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII, they are going to have to do so without one of their best defenders in linebacker Dre Greenlaw.
Greenlaw, a five-year veteran and key starter on the 49ers’ defense, suffered a freak injury between plays of Super Bowl LVIII. After a San Francisco punt in the second quarter, Greenlaw was jogging onto the field along with the rest of the team's defense when he crumpled to the ground with an apparent leg injury.
After spending a few minutes in the blue injury tent, the linebacker was carted off the field. The 49ers later announced Greenlaw is ruled out with an Achilles injury.

It's devastating any time an injury occurs, but it's even more cruel and heartbreaking that Greenlaw went down in the manner that he did.
In 62 career games, Greenlaw has amassed 446 combined tackles, 3.5 sacks and three interceptions. He logged three tackles in Super Bowl LVIII before exiting the game.
