Panthers Hire Pete Carroll’s Son to Coaching Staff

The Carolina Panthers hired Nathan Carroll as their new passing game coordinator on Thursday.

If Carroll’s name seems familiar, it’s because he is the son of former Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, who shifted to an advisor role with the organization after spending 14 seasons coaching on the sidelines.

Nathan Carroll held various positions with the Seahawks since his father’s tenure began in Seattle in 2010.

Panthers coach Dave Canales will reunite with the younger Carroll, as he previously worked for the Seahawks from 2010 to ’22. Carroll took over as the wide receivers’ coach from 2018 to ’21 after Canales served in that role for his first eight seasons there.

Additionally, new Panthers general manager Dan Morgan worked for the Seahawks from 2010 to ’17.

This will be Carroll’s first time working as a passing game coordinator. Canales worked his way up to the Seahawks’ passing game coordinator in his 11th and 12th years with the franchise.

As for Nathan Carroll’s father, the legendary coach hasn’t ruled out a return to coaching in the future despite not having a position heading into the 2024 NFL season.
