Chiefs’ Mecole Hardman Pays Homage to Super Bowl Heroics on NBA Celebrity All-Star Jersey

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman has had a rollercoaster calendar year, to put it mildly.

The Georgia product signed with the New York Jets on March 22, only for the team barely to use him. The Jets responded by trading Hardman to the Chiefs on Oct. 18—and watched him score the winning touchdown in overtime of Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers.

Hardman celebrated his instantly iconic score in style, garnering congratulations from musician Taylor Swift and making plans to play in the NBA’s Celebrity All-Star Game Friday in Indianapolis.

He showed up to the game and donned a jersey with his No. 12, accompanied by a “Mr. Walkoff” nameplate.

Hardman is the third player in NFL history to score a championship-winning touchdown in overtime, joining Baltimore Colts fullback Alan Ameche in 1958 and New England Patriots running back James White in 2016.

The former Pro Bowl kick returner is a free agent this offseason—if any NBA contenders are looking for bench help and big-game experience.
