James Franklin Makes Lengthy Drive to Both of Penn State's First-Round Draft Pick Celebrations

Penn State coach James Franklin was faced with a tall task Thursday evening.

The Nittany Lions had two likely first round picks: offensive lineman Olu Fashanu and defensive end Chop Robinson. Fashanu is from Waldorf, Md. and Robinson is from Gaithersburg, Md. Google Maps places the two locales 57 minutes apart.

Lesser coaches may have been broken by the drive. Not Franklin.

Penn State posted a video Thursday evening that depicted Franklin appearing at Fashanu's draft party, greeting its revelers, and decamping for Robinson's draft party 10 picks later.

Fashanu went 11th to the New York Jets while Robinson went 21st to the Miami Dolphins.

The videos appear to have been recorded on the fly by the Nittany Lions' creative team; at one point someone can be heard asking whether they have the correct address.

Franklin may struggle against Ohio State and Michigan on the field, but the gauntlet has been thrown down for coaches Ryan Day and Sherrone Moore on draft night 2025.
