In this story:

Every year the San Francisco 49ers have a position coach or coordinator who is sought after. Whether that is to become a coordinator or head coach elsewhere, the 49ers always lose someone on their staff to take up a new elevated position.

It is easily the most impressive element on the 49ers that they are a coaching factory. Notable coaches who moved on to other teams for elevated positions are Robert Saleh, Mike LaFleur, Joe Woods, Mike McDaniel and DeMeco Ryans. These coaches were easily popular and the most sought after to become head coaches or coordinators on new teams.

So, who will be the 49ers most coveted coach in 2023?

I think I would go with running backs and assistant head coach Anthony Lynn. Usually when a coach on the 49ers staff takes a job with another team, they tend to have a bit of tenure with the 49ers. Lynn only has one year under his belt and is entering his second, so that could be a detracting factor when other teams are considering him.

But I think that is an aspect that can be overlooked considering Lynn is a fairly experienced coach. He's not a coach getting his first gig with the 49ers and was handpicked and brought up by Kyle Shanahan. It all comes down to the work the running backs, the overall running game, and even the offense as a whole does. Jordan Mason, for example, can be a player credited to Lynn. He can find himself in a larger role this year after proving how efficient he can be. That will only raise the stock of Lynn.

An offensive coordinator role is what I foresee being offered to Lynn should this year help give him momentum. Becoming a head coach is probably never going to happen again for him, but an offensive coordinator position certainly is still on the table for him. Then again, this all depends on if he even cares for that. If he wants to call plays, then he will definitely have to go elsewhere. Should that be the case, then he really needs his department to be clicking. Having Christian McCaffrey will help a bit, but not too much since McCaffrey has always been phenomenal.

Defensive line coach Kris Kocurek could always be a coveted coach, but he's had plenty of chances to be elevated. He seems more than content with where he is at. If Lynn isn't the coveted coach in 2023, then I have a tough time seeing who that is. It'll surely be a surprise, which will only bode well for the 49ers in the upcoming season because it will mean that whoever that coach is got the best out of his area.

Who do you think will be a popular coach teams will want this year?
