Will Kyle Shanahan win the 2022 NFL Coach of the Year Award?

In this story:
The NFL Honors ceremony will kick off tonight at 9 p. m. ET.
This is where a handful of players and coaches will find out if they will have won any season awards. For the San Francisco 49ers, they have quite a slew of their own players and coaches who are finalists.
One of them is Kyle Shanahan who is up for the NFL Coach of the Year award. Shanahan is going up against Eagles' Nick Sirianni, Giants' Brian Daboll, Jaguars' Doug Pederson, and Bills' Sean McDermott. There is a legitimate case to be made for Shanahan who led the 49ers to the No. 2 seed of the NFC playoffs with a 13-4 record that saw them rip off a 10 game winning streak to end the regular season.
Quite an incredible accomplishment to win 10 games in a row for any stretch of the season. But what makes Shanahan's season even more impressive is that he did it with not one, not two, but THREE different quarterbacks. Practically every team would have failed to make the playoffs in his shoes, let alone be a dominant force in the conference.
So will Shanahan win the 2022 NFL Coach of the Year award?
He won't and shouldn't. For starters, the whole idea that he had to deal with three different quarterbacks is only true on a technicality. One of those quarterbacks was Jimmy Garoppolo who last I checked was the starter of the 49ers since 2018. I don't give him much credit for that when the transition from Trey Lance after he was lost for the season to Garoppolo was seamless, especially since all the offensive skill players are familiar with him. The only real credit he gets is with Brock Purdy who nobody could've anticipated how he'd perform. He gets points for how Purdy performed, but that is about it.
The 49ers being an elite team and making the playoffs was expected. It has been expected since their Super Bowl appearance from the 2019 season. What wasn't expected was how the Giants would actually be a playoff team under Daboll. That is a squad that has no one worth mentioning outside of Saquon Barkley. Their elite talent is severely lacking of all playoff teams in both conferences, yet Daboll was able to get his players to play at a high-level and make the playoffs. He overachieved with the Giants and that is why Daboll should win the NFL Coach of the Year award over Shanahan.
Even Pederson with the Jaguars would make for a better award winner given what he did to turnaround a bottom feeding franchise. Shanahan is well deserving of being a finalist for Coach of the Year, but really the year he should've won the award was back in 2019. No one had the Niners being as dominant as they were going into that season and he was robbed when John Harbaugh of the Ravens won it.
But this year, winning the award over Daboll and Pederson is something I don't see happening nor think it should happen.
