49ers 53-Man Roster Projections 3.0: Post Preseason Week 2

The San Francisco 49ers 53-man roster projection has shifted throughout the offseason. From training camp to the first preseason game, and now the third edition features even more updates. What could the roster look like?

Quarterback (3) - Brock Purdy, Mac Jones, Kurtis Rourke

If Rourke is healthy, the team cannot risk losing him to another team. The practice squad seems less likely.

Running Back (4) - Christian McCaffrey, Kyle Juszczyk, Jordan James, Kaelon Black

Isaac Guerendo to PUP*

With Guerendo on the PUP, this room has no tough decisions, other than James health. Sincere McCormick is the next man up.

Wide Receiver (6) - Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel, Jacob Cowing, De’Zhaun Stribling, Jordan Watkins, Demarcus Robinson

Christian Kirk on PUP*

Kirk does not appear to be getting healthy anytime soon, but the other six have beat him out with their play in training camp.

Tight End (3) -Jake Tonges, Luke Farrell, Brayden Willis

George Kittle on PUP*

With Kittle out, it looks like Willis will be the third tight end.

Offensive Line (10) - Trent Williams, Carver Willis, Jake Brendel, Dominick Puni, Colton McKivitz, Enrique Cruz, Austin Pleasants, Robert Jones, Connor Colby, Drake Nugent

Vederian Lowe on IR Designated to return*

Lowe is on the PUP, which puts the team in a spot where they would likely want to keep Pleasants and Cruz for depth at left tackle.

Edge Rusher (4) Nick Bosa, Romello Height, Keion White, Sam Okuayinonu

Mykel Williams on PUP*

With Williams on the PUP, there is not much debate here. Ogbo Okoronkwo signed late in camp and could stick on the practice squad.

Interior Defensive Line (5) - Alfred Collins, Osa Odighizuwa, CJ West, Gracen Halton, Sebastian Valdez

Valdez has been great in training camp, and the team has been rewarding him by giving him snaps next to Alfred Collins. He looks like a 53-man roster player.

Linebacker (6) - Fred Warner, Dre Greelaw, Garrett Wallow, Luke Gifford, Nick Martin, Jaden Dugger

Warner, Greenlaw and Gifford have sat as the three starters. Martin, Dugger and Wallow have slotted in as the three behind them. This leaves Bethune off.

Cornerback (5) - Deommodore Lenoir, Renardo Green, Upton Stout, Jack Jones, Ephesians Prysock

Nate Hobbs seems like a long shot to make the team based on how little he has practiced.

Safety (4) - Malik Mustapha, Ji’Ayir Brown, Marques Sigle, Siran Neal

Siran Neal makes it due to special teams.

Special teams (3) - Eddy Pineiro, Corliss Waitman, Jon Weeks

There are no competitions.
