49ers Division Rival Rams Add a Talented Cornerback

The San Francisco 49ers should start to take note of the secondary of the Los Angeles Rams.

First, they signed former Jacksonville Jaguars corner Darious Williams who is an adequate player. Now, they have signed former Buffalo Bills corner Tre'Davious White on Tuesday to a one-year deal for $8.5 million worth up to $10 million, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

These two additions alone already give the Rams a sweet secondary. It is one that will prove to give the 49ers fits when they match up with the Rams twice in 2024. However, signing White could be viewed as an overpay. It isn't due to a lack of talent. White has been a solid player throughout his career.

The issue is that he is injury prone. He can never stay healthy. White has missed 30 games in the last three seasons. He hasn't been able to play a full season since 2018, which was the second year of his career. Plus, you have to wonder if he really is still that solid cornerback that he once was.

With so many injuries, I doubt he is still that good. They had to have played a factor and taken a toll on him in how he plays. But for the Rams, it isn't a bad investment. The potential is there and worth seeing if White can be healthy and be fine. Pairing him up with Williams is just too tempting.

Clearly, they are more than willing to roll the dice to see if their vision of having White return to form and be healthy along with Williams comes true.
