ATLANTA -- This is the live blog for the San Francisco 49ers' Week 6 game against the Atlanta Falcons. I will update this frequently with information and analysis from the Mercedes Benz Stadium press box.

7:31 Nick Bosa reportedly will not play today, which is no surprise. George Kittle missed two games with a groin injury. Why would Bosa not miss any?

7:35 The 49ers have shown interest in trading for Christian McCaffrey, according to reports. I understand if the 49ers called the Panthers just to see what it would cost to trade for McCaffrey, but I can't imagine the 49ers actually would trade for him, because he's injury prone and on the down side of his career. The 49ers already have plenty of players like that. They don't need another one. Technically, McCaffrey is cheap this year and his contract is not guaranteed next year, so the Panthers most likely would ask for a Day 2 pick in return for him. If that's the caase, the 49ers absolutely should not trade a second- or third-round pick for McCaffrey. That would be a huge mistake. It feels like something the Rams will do out of desperation in a week or two, because they love adding aging stars. Still, I can see Kyle Shanahan coveting McCaffrey and trading for him if the 49ers lose unexpectedly before the trade deadline. Shanahan loves making big investments in running backs and probably regrets passing on McCaffrey in 2017. Let's hope for the 49ers' sake that I'm wrong.

8:30 Here are the 49ers' inactives: Trent Williams, Arik Armstead, Nick Bosa, Jimmie Ward, Tyler Croft and Danny Gray. No idea why Gray is inactive. Willie Snead is active in his place.

9:27 Deommodore Lenoir appears to be starting at cornerback in place of Emmanuel Moseley.

10:00 The 49ers win the toss and defer. The Falcons will receive the opening kickoff.

FIRST QUARTER

10:12 On 2nd and goal from the 2, George Odum gives up a touchdown catch to tighe end MyCole Pruitt. Talanoa Hufanga missed most of the drive as he was being evaluated for a head injury, but he returned to the game. Samson Ebukam also got injured during the drive but walked off by himself. The 49ers gave up a 37-yard completion on the third play of the game. The Falcons also ran the ball 7 times on that drive. It's clear they're trying to wear down the 49ers backup defensive linemen who typically don't play many snaps.

49ers 0, Falcons 7.

10:18 On 3rd and 4 from the 49ers 34, Garoppolo has all the time in the world to throw, and George Kittle is wide open deep, but Garoppolo throws to Jauan Jennings instead and the pass in innaccurate and incomplete. The 49ers go three and out. Rough start.

10:26 On 3rd and 21 from the Falcons 37, the 49ers give up a 9-yard catch, and then Atlanta punts. The Falcons committed a false start and an illegal block in the back, which killed their drive. The 49ers take over at their 11.

10:31 on 3rd and 1 from the 49ers 20, Jeff Wilson Jr. runs up the middle and fumbles. Falcons cornerback A.J. Terrell recovers the ball and runs it down to the 1-yard line where he fumbles. Then Falcons safety Jaylinn Hawkins recovers the ball in the end zone for a touchdown. What a disastrous start for the 49ers, who still haven't picked up a first down.

49ers 0, Falcons 14.

SECOND QUARTER

10:46 On 2nd and 5 from the Falcons 12, Garoppolo throws a screen pass to Brandon Aiyuk, who follows his blockers and walks into the end zone for the touchdown. Great blocking. Aiyuk had three catches for 33 yards on that drive.

49ers 7, Falcons 14.

10:52 On 3rd and 7 from the Falcons 28, Drake Jackson sacks Marcus Mariota, and the Falcons go 3 and out. The on the punt, Ray-Ray McCloud spins away from a hit and returns the ball 35 yards to the Falcons 32. Best play of the season so far by McCloud.

10:56 On 2nd and 9 from the Falcons 14, Aiyuk lines up in the slot, runs a whip route and destroys cornerback A.J. Terrell for a touchdown. Aiyuk is having a huge game. Good to see the 49ers line up Aiyuk in the slot for a change.

49ers 14, Falcons 14.

11:12 On 1st and goal from the 3, Marcus Mariota runs a zone read and scores a touchdown around the right end. Mariota extended the drive with a 15-yard scramble up the middle on 3rd and 12 -- the 49ers did a terrible job of containing him in the pocket. Then a few plays later, Deommodore Lenoir gave up a 20-yard catch to Drake London, who's seven inches taller than Lenoir. Rough matchup. In addition, Charvarius Ward left the game and walked to the locker room during the drive.

49ers 14, Falcons 21.

11:15 Charvarius Ward has a groin injury and is questionable to return.

11:21 On the final play of the half, Jimmy Garoppolo heaves it deep and gets intercepted by Isaiah Oliver. After the play, the Falcons commit an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, a 15-yarder which will be enforced on the kickoff. The 49ers will get the ball to start the second half.

THIRD QUARTER

11:38 Charvarius Ward is out with a groin injury, and Mike McGlinchey is out with a calf injury. Daniel Brunskill is now the right tackle and Spencer Burford is the right guard.

11:41 On 2nd and 10 from the 49ers 30, Ray-Ray McCloud drops a deep pass from Garoppolo. Next play, Garoppolo checks down to Kyle Juszczyk for five yards instead of throwing to Deebo Samuel who is wide open, and the 49ers go 3 and out. The Falcons take over at their 35 after the punt.

11:48 On 3rd and 3 from the 49ers 7, Samuel Womack gives up a touchdown catch to Kyle Pitts. Horrible matchup for Womack, who's 9 inches shorter than Pitts. That was an easy drive for the Falcons. The 49ers defense looks gassed.

49ers 14, Falcons 28.

11:57 On 2nd and 5 from the 49ers 44, Garoppolo throws up the seam to Charlie Woerner who drops the ball. Next play, Garoppolo throws off his back foot in the face of pressure and one-hops a throw to Jeff Wilson Jr. After the punt, the Falcons take over at their 10.

12:05 On 3rd and 1 from the Falcons 29, Mariota keeps the ball on a zone read, but Samson Ebukam tackles him for a loss of 1. That's the first time the 49ers defense has defended the zone read correctly today. After the punt, the 49ers take over 20.

FOURTH QUARTER

12:15 On 1st and 10 from the 49ers 47, Garoppolo underthrows a wide open Brandon Aiyuk deep down the middle of the field and the pass gets broken up. Next play, Garoppolo forces a pass to Deebo Samuel and gets intercepted. The Falcons take over at their 45.

12:20 On 3rd and 5 from the 49ers 40, Mariota throws his first incomplete pass of the game. Then the Falcons punt and pin the ball at the 49ers' 1-yard line. Bad break for the 49ers.

12:42 On 3rd and 1 from the 49ers 18, Tevin Coleman runs for no gain. On 4th and 1, Garoppolo throws an incomplete pass intended for Deebo Samuel. Strange that the 49ers didn't run a quarterback sneak on either play. The 49ers turn it over on down with fewer than three minutes left.

12:49 The Falcons run on 3rd and 8 from their 34, and then they punt. The 49ers take over at 20 with 1:04 and no timeouts remaining.

12:53 The 49ers lose. Stay tuned for their grades.
