In this story:

Most 49ers are looking past the upcoming game against the Seahawks, because frankly it's the Seahawks, they're terrible and the 49ers just beat them a couple weeks ago. The only way the 49ers can lose is if they have an emotional let down and beat themselves.

That's all true. But this game will be extremely interesting for Brock Purdy in particular.

Purdy just had the game of his life last week in Philadelphia as he eviscerated the Eagles and made himself the MVP frontrunner in the NFL. People are comparing him to Kurt Warner and Joe Montana. How will Purdy respond? The last time he blew out an NFC East team, he immediately lost three games in a row afterward.

Keep in mind, Purdy faced the Seahawks just a couple weeks ago and didn't perform up to his usual standard. His quarterback rating was just 86.7. Remember, the 49ers essentially had put the game away at halftime despite Purdy's poor performance, and then he threw a pick-six in the third quarter and opened the door for the Seahawks, and then Kyle Shanahan took the game out of Purdy's hands for more than a quarter until he put the Seahawks away with a beautiful touchdown pass to Brandon Aiyuk.

Until that moment, the Seahawks had done a tremendous job of shutting Aiyuk, which is the key to limiting Purdy's effectiveness, because Aiyuk is his go-to guy. The Seahawks bracketed him with two defenders most of the game, and Purdy struggled.

Will the Seahawks bracket Aiyuk again on Sunday? Will it matter? Will Purdy perform better at home?

Stay tuned.
