Will Steve Wilks be the 49ers Defensive Coordinator in 2024?

In this story:
First, the 49ers moved Steve Wilks from the coach's booth to the sideline.
The next move for him will be out the door if the 49ers keep losing.
It's not fair for the 49ers to scapegoat Wilks for their three-game losing streak, but that's exactly what they're doing by making him change where he calls plays. The implication is that he's the only person who has to make an adjustment, and this is the final adjustment the 49ers can make -- a change of scenery. A different perspective. A cosmetic change that most likely will have no impact on wins and losses.
Remember, Wilks was calling plays from the booth when the 49ers won five games in a row to start the season. Apparently, the booth was a good location for him at that time. Now, the booth is the problem. Now Wilks needs to communicate directly with the players. As if that will fix all the 49ers problems.
Forget the fact that the offense hasn't scored more than 17 points in a game since Week 5. Forget the fact that Christian McCaffrey hasn't rushed for more than 54 yards in a game since Week 4. Forget the fact that whenever the 49ers get in a close game in the fourth quarter, Brock Purdy turns the ball over. Let's just throw Wilks under the bus.
It's so obvious that if the 49ers fall short in the playoffs, they'll fire Wilks at the end of the season. He has to know it. The players have to know it. Everyone knows it. Which means Wilks essentially is a lame duck coordinator. Moving him around on game days won't change that.
