The Line: Chiefs by 13 (over/under 47 1/2)

The Matchup: The Bears come in hoping to break a 12-game losing streak against Patrick Mahones and the Kansas City Chiefs, whose offensive coordinator is former Bears coach Matt Nagy. The Chiefs are defending Super Bowl champions but opened their season with a home-field 21-20 loss to the Detroit Lions.

The Series: The 14th meeting. Bears lead 7-6. Kansas City won the last game 26-3 at Soldier Field in 2019. The Bears last won at KC in 18-17 in 2005.

The Coaches: Matt Eberflus is 3-16 in his second season and has never faced the Chiefs. Kansas City coach Andy Reid is 248-139 in his 25th season overall and 118-46 at Kansas City. He is 3-3 against the Bears.

Last Week: The Bears fell to 0-2 this year 27-17 in Tampa while the Chiefs got a 9-yard Mahomes-to-Travis Kelce TD pass and 38-yard Harrison Butker field goal in the second half to beat Jacksonville 17-9. 

Notable: Justin Fields in the last three games has three TD passes, four interceptions, a passer rating of 63.5 and 54.02% completions. He has gained 114 yards rushing and has been sacked 17 times in those games and has fumbled four times. ... Mahomes just signed a contract restructuring that gives him $13.9 million more this year, $20.45 million more in 2024, $31 million more in 2026 and $43.3 million more in 2027. ...

He has completed 64.15% with five TDs, two interceptions, and a passer rating of 92.2 in his last three games. ... Bears GM Ryan Poles, a former Chiefs personnel executive, has revamped the roster. There are 10 different starters than last year and 11 players remaining on the 53-man roster from the previous regime. ... Bears kicker Cairo Santos has made 18 straight field goals. ... Fields is eighth among NFL quarterbacks in rushing this year with 62 yards on 13 carries.
