In this story:

Before you know it, the Chicago Bears will be back on the practice field as a team in preparation for the 2026 NFL season.

And we now know for sure when that's going to happen.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the league has dropped the dates for the offseason programs for all 32 teams, including Chicago's.

For the Bears, they'll report on April 20, which is later than last year because only teams with a first-year head coach start earlier.

Of course, Ben Johnson is now in his second year as the team's head coach, so the Bears will begin nearly two weeks later than 2025.

From there, the Bears will hold organized team activities (OTAs) from May 27-29, and then from June 2-4. That part of the offseason program is voluntary.

After a handful of days off following OTAs, the Bears will then get back to work on June 9 for mandatory minicamp, which will run through June 11.

The Bears will have the option of holding their rookie minicamp, which will feature the team's draft picks, undrafted free-agent signings and tryout players, from May 1-4 or from May 8-11.

We should know the exact date at some point before or right after the 2026 NFL Draft.

Will the Bears have any holdouts?

With the start of the offseason program comes players holding out over their desire for a new contract.

Never say never in the NFL, but it does not appear that the Bears will have this issue. We won't know for sure until mandatory minicamp rolls around, though.

When is training camp?

In 2025, the Bears' rookies reported to training camp on July 19, and the rest of the team reported on July 22, so Chicago will kick things off in late July.

Training camp will once again take place at Halas Hall and the Bears will offer free tickets for fans to attend.

Once training camp concludes in late August and the preseason is over after that, the Bears will then turn their attention to the initial 53-man roster cutdown, and then the start of the regular season, which will fall in the first week of September.

However, we don't have an official date for the Bears' first game, as schedules won't be officially revealed until May.
