Bengals Director Of Player Personnel Duke Tobin: Joe Burrow Deal 'Not Done Yet'

CINCINNATI — Bengals director of player personnel Duke Tobin commented on Joe Burrow's contract extension at the NFL Combine, saying "it's not done yet. It's a good problem to have."

Burrow is now eligible for a record-setting contract extension with Cincinnati.

"It's not done yet," Tobin said about the deal. "You know, it's a good problem to have. I have been pretty vocal about what Joe means to us. And my job is to facilitate his success as best I can with putting pieces around him, and his contract will get done when it gets done, but it's a good problem to have. He's a vital part of what we're doing."

The Bengals decision maker also gave a hint at the team's eagerness to strike a deal.

"Sooner is better, but we're not gonna rush the process," Tobin noted. "We're gonna try to get the right deal for Joe and the right deal for the Cincinnati Bengals."

Bengals cap expert Andre Perrotta talked about a possible deal with the Locked On Bengals crew a few weeks back. Perrota also posted the full proposal on Twitter.

"It's vital," Tobin said bout keeping Burrow's core weaponry intact. "It's my job, you know, my job is to have as many good players on our football team as we can fit in and so the challenging piece as our players, mature and earn bigger contracts and find the successes thereafter. You know, it's our job to keep as many of them as we can, you know the reality of the NFL is that it's, it's hard to do, but it's not impossible, and we'll fit the puzzle back together."

The 2022-23 MVP finalist broke his franchise touchdown record last season and has led the most successful two-year stretch in team history.

He's about to get rightfully rewarded for that performance.
