Bengals 'Working Something Up,' Expected to Sign Former Rams Safety Nick Scott

Cincinnati lost both of their starting safeties in free agency.

CINCINNATI — The Bengals might've lost Jessie Bates and Vonn Bell in free agency, but they're close to adding a veteran safety according to PFF's Brad Spielberger.

Cincinnati is "working towards a deal" with former Rams safety Nick Scott.

The 27-year-old notched 86 tackles and two interceptions in 17 games (16 starts) with the Rams in 2022. He was in Cincinnati for a visit on Thursday afternoon.

Scott is PFF's 111th-ranked free agent and was graded 78th out of 88 safeties last season (54.2 grade). Fresh off his rookie deal, Scott shouldn't command a major payday and could be a nice veteran addition to complement Dax Hill.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler confirms the Bengals are "working something up" with Scott.

He's played in 75 regular season games since entering the league (68 starts) and helped the Rams beat the Bengals in Super Bowl LVI.

It's an interesting report, especially considering Cincinnati is expected to host Taylor Rapp for a visit on Friday. Both Rapp and Scott started for the Rams at safety over the past four seasons.
