Former Washington Quarterback Dwayne Haskins Signs With Pittsburgh

CINCINNATI — Former Washington quarterback Dwayne Haskins has agreed to a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
This was something both parties were expecting when they scheduled their meeting.
"Haskins is meeting with the coaches now, and if all goes well, a deal will be hammered out," Albert Breer tweeted on Thursday afternoon.
Haskins was released by the Washington Football Team last month. They selected him in the first-round (15th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft.
He posted a 3-10 record in 13 starts. The 23-year-old had 2,804 yards, 12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 16 career games.
Landing in Pittsburgh is a best case scenario for Haskins. He can sit and learn behind a future Hall of Famer in Ben Roethlisberger for at least one season. If all goes well, Haskins could earn a chance to compete for a starting job in 2022.
Roethlisberger is expected to return next season, but he only has one year remaining on his current contract.
This is a low-risk signing for Pittsburgh, as they continue to look for their quarterback of the future.
Haskins starred at Ohio State and infamously beat out Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow for the Buckeyes' starting job in 2018.
Burrow transferred to LSU and led the Tigers to a 15-0 record before the Bengals picked him with the No. 1 selection in the 2020 NFL Draft.
