Buffalo Bills Ex Cole Beasley Refutes 'Delusional' Josh Allen Narrative

Former Buffalo Bills receiver Cole Beasley doesn't feel like Josh Allen has had to do it all by himself.

Josh Allen has been the driving force of the Buffalo Bills' offense for several years now, but this fall, he may have to put on his Superman cape every Sunday.

Allen has never had the best supporting cast around him, but he had a star receiver in Stefon Diggs for the past four seasons as well as a solid No. 2 option in Gabe Davis. With Allen's rocket of an arm and quick feet, that was more than enough for the Bills' offense to keep on humming.

Next season, though, Allen may face his toughest challenge yet. Both Davis and Diggs are gone, with the former leaving for the Jacksonville Jaguars in free agency and the latter via a trade to the Houston Texans last week. Now, Allen's top receivers are Khalil Shakir and Curtis Samuel, not an ideal situation for any quarterback.

In the wake of the Diggs trade, the narrative of Allen being "alone" on the Bills' offense has become more prevalent than ever. To former Bills receiver Cole Beasley, though, that narrative is not one that holds any water.

"Alone is a crazy statement. Some of these bills fans are delusional. The only time he was truly alone out there was 2018. We had good teams every year after that."

In 2018, Allen's rookie season, Buffalo's leading receivers were Zay Jones and Robert Foster, the latter of which has been out of the NFL since 2020. The Bills took measures to give Allen more help over the next couple of seasons, which has helped him take his game to the next level.

The post Beasley is responding to isn't referring to Allen's supporting casts over the past few years, but rather what he has to work with right now.

Many of the Bills' losses this offseason were results of a cap crunch, but those players are still gone all the same. Many have already counted the Bills out after their offseason purge, and if they are to prove those people wrong, Allen will have to be at his absolute best.
