DeAndre Hopkins to Be Cut? Bills Should Listen to Latest Cardinals Rumor

Should the Buffalo Bills re-peak their DeAndre Hopkins interest after the latest reports surrounding the Arizona Cardinals star receiver?

The Buffalo Bills could potentially get their splash deal of the offseason after all ... and it may not even have to come in the form of a trade.

From cryptic social media messages to the weekly rumors, Arizona Cardinals star receiver DeAndre Hopkins has been linked to Buffalo and other teams in what has been one of the hotter topics this offseason.

Now, after potentially being the best available trade piece for Arizona to offer to a receiver-hungry team, the Cardinals appear ready to cut Hopkins altogether rather than play the waiting game in the trade market.

Per Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, "some teams think that the Cardinals will wind up cutting him. … His market is not great right now," he said during an appearance on the Greg Bedard Podcast.

Along with not having to potentially trade away a high draft pick, Buffalo could also avoid taking on the $17.2 million APY cap hit in the contract. Adding Hopkins to fold in a way that at one point seemed impossible - and a rumor that Bills general manager Brandon Beane somewhat shut down - could now be a move the Bills can hardly pass up, especially if they want to overcome their frustrating playoff hump (a.k.a. the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals).

During Arizona's abysmal 4-13 finish this past season, Hopkins still finished as the team's leader in receiving yards (717) despite missing the first six games due to a PED suspension.

With receiver being one of the key areas of improvement for the team this offseason, putting together a trade to acquire the star pass-catcher from the Cardinals could be a deal that keeps the Bills in Super Bowl contention for the foreseeable future. A receiving duo of Stefon Diggs and Hopkins would become arguably the league's best pass-game pairing, especially with Josh Allen at the helm.

But for now, it might be a wait-and-see approach for the Bills.
